Cabin Fever Brownies

Less Is More.

I’ve heard through the grapevine that when you’re looking for a recipe, it’s aggravating to have to read through an entire epic description and wade through umpteen photos. Because there’s a pandemic and I don’t want to further irritate you, I am presenting this Cabin Fever Brownies recipe without much commentary. Also, I am homeschooling, working, wife-ing and generally losing my mind so I don’t have time to inspire you with the fancy words.

Mulberry Matcha Tart

I normally write up a big long description, especially for foraging posts so that folks who are new to foraging will feel confident to give it a try. But when I posted pictures of this tart on a wild edibles Facebook page, I had so many requests for the recipe I decided to just get the recipe part up and circle back to fancy pictures and a detailed explanation later. Hope you give this a try, I’ve gotten rave reviews from my family and neighbors!

Foolproof Holiday Cookie Roundup

The Mother Of All Cookie Posts

I don’t want to boss you around but you should definitely try making some of these cookies for the holidays.  I’ve put them all in one spot along with some helpful tips for getting great results every time.  But honestly, this is a selfish post.  I’ve been baking batches and batches of holiday cookies and even though I’m using my own dang recipes, I still like to look them up on the blog every time I bake so I don’t get them mixed up.  Is it weird to google and print my own recipes off of the internet?  If that’s the type of narcissistic behavior it takes to get perfect cookies, I’m all for it.  Yesterday I was wishing I had my go-to, foolproof holiday cookie recipes in one place so…TA DA!  Foolproof Holiday Cookie Roundup!

Pumpkin Sheet Cake With Molasses Cream Cheese Frosting

I’m back from a summer hiatus!   Yay!  In June, my middle daughter had heart and lung surgery at an out-of-state hospital.  There were some unforeseen complications and we’re just now finishing up her rehab program and getting back to “normal”.  Now that the temperatures have dropped I can hear the oven calling me.  Instead of reinventing the wheel I’m rewriting this post to highlight how easy this cozy sheet cake version is to make.   Continue reading “Pumpkin Sheet Cake With Molasses Cream Cheese Frosting”

Cotton Candy Cloud Cake

Last week I got a request to make a special cake for a friend’s birthday.  I was stumped because I didn’t have a lot of time to prep decorations, prepare fillings or make anything elaborate.  I needed a design that I could bake up that night, chill overnight, then decorate in less than 30 minutes the next day.  This cotton candy cloud cake was just what the doctor ordered. Violet Elderflower Gummies

These elegant violet and elderflower gummies are sweet, floral and just a little tart.  You only need a half cup of violet flowers, making this a perfect project for those first precious violets that pop up in the spring.  This recipe can be made with a lot of variations but I’ve detailed how I did mine in the recipe below.  The gummies, like the violets, don’t last long so it’s best to make them on the day you plan to eat them.
